Evan   BIRTH STORIES

"On Friday I had some bloody show, and birthing waves in the afternoon. I walked a lot on Saturday to try to get things moving. At 9 p.m. on Saturday my birthing waves became regular. They were strong enough and close enough together that I couldn't sleep. Sunday morning, I woke Jonny up at 8 a.m. and told him what was happening. I was tired, but still relaxed. The birthing waves were 5 to 8 minutes apart, but they weren't any stronger yet. The birthing waves continued, and I did my finger-drops, but it was another night without sleep. On Monday morning my birthing waves were 60 to 90 seconds long and 5 to 7 minutes apart. Carole came over and we did a special place visualization, to help me sleep a while. By noon, the birthing waves were intense. They were lasting 75 to 90 seconds, and were 4 to 5 minutes apart. But they slowed down again. Around 8 p.m. my birthing waves were still every 5 minutes. At 11:30 p.m. my water broke, and we left for the hospital. I was listening to my CDs and smiling, so the nurse did not believe I was in my birthing time until she examined me. I later found out I was dilated to 8 cm, and I started to feel like I needed to push, so I had to try to breathe through the feeling. Finally, I was 10 cm, and I could push. Evan was born at 9:07 a.m. Tuesday. The entire birthing was the most incredible experience of my life. Although I was tired from the unusual length of my birthing time, I felt great. I had absolutely no pain the entire time. When the nurse pushed the edge of my cervix over Evan's head, and even when he crowned, I only felt pressure. The hypnosis worked better than I ever imagined it could. It kept me relaxed and focused, and in control of my body and my birthing time. I tell everyone about Hypnobabies."
